LAKE ELMO, Minn. - Senior Clare Legaspi and freshman Emma Spitz are each in the Top 15 after the first round of the ANNIKA Intercollegiate presented by 3M. As a team, the Bruins are tied for seventh at 3-over 291 after their first round at the Royal Golf Club on Monday.

Legaspi is tied for 10th at 1-under 71, as she made an eagle on the par-5 9th, birdies on No. 6, No. 10 and No. 17 and four bogeys. Her 3-under par total on par 5s was tied for the best in the field on Monday.

Spitz balanced her books with three birdies on No. 5, 9 and 18 and three bogeys in an even-par 72, as she is tied for 15th. Sophomore Simar Singh is tied for 25th following a 1-over 73. She made four birdies (No. 7, 9, 15 and 18), three bogeys and a double. Senior Mariel Galdiano is tied for 36th, shooting a 3-over 75. She posted three birdies on No. 7, 9 and 14, four bogeys and a double. Freshman Ty Akabane is tied for 56th, recording a 7-over 79 on one birdie (No. 9), two bogeys and three doubles.

The Bruins begin round two on Tuesday at 8:35 a.m. CT/6:35 a.m. PT off the 10th tee in the order of Akabane, Galdiano, Singh, Spitz and Legaspi.
