Sophomore quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson of the UCLA football team has been named the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for Sept. 16-22.
Thompson-Robinson was the catalyst as UCLA secured the third-largest comeback win in FBS history Saturday, as he racked up a school-record 564 yards of total offense (507 passing, 57 rushing) in the Bruins' 67-63 triumph at No. 19 Washington State. Thompson-Robinson accounted for seven total touchdowns (five passing, two rushing), including five during his team's 50-point second half. The difference maker came with 1:07 remaining in the contest, as the sophomore hit RB Demetric Felton on a screen pass that went for 15 yards and the score. Thompson-Robinson earlier found Felton for the second longest passing play in school history, a 94-yard scoring strike that made the score 49-38 with 1:21 remaining in the third quarter. The Cougars previously led 49-17 at 6:52 of the third.
This is Thompson-Robinson's first UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week award of the season and of his career.
Also nominated: Mia Fishel, W. Soccer; Nicolas Saveljic, M. Water Polo.
