WOLCOTT, Colo. - After improving 10 shots from round one to round two, the Bruins were six shots better on Wednesday to finish in third place at the Golfweek Conference Challenge. UCLA shot a 9-under 279 at the Red Sky Golf Club, Fazio Course to finish at 5-under 859.

Freshman Emma Spitz placed solo third at 8-under 208 following a 4-under 68. She made six birdies on No. 8, 11, 16, 17, 18 and 2 with only two bogeys.

Freshman Annabel Wilson shot a second-straight, 2-under 70 to finish in a tie for 16th at even-par 216. She posted an eagle on the par-5 15th, four birdies on No. 5, 6, 11 and 2, two bogeys and a double.

Freshmen Emilie Paltrinieri and Yuki Yoshihara both tied for 18th (+1, 217). Paltrinieri posted a 2-under 70, making six birdies (No. 11, 13, 14, 17, 1 and 2), two bogeys and a double. Yoshihara, playing as an individual, also shot a 2-under 70 on three birdies (No. 2, 11 and 13) and one bogey. Freshman Ty Akabane tied for 34th (+6, 222), shooting a 1-under 71 on seven birdies (No. 13, 15, 16, 18, 2, 3 and 5), four bogeys and a double. Senior Mariel Galdiano tied for 39th (+7, 223), recording an even-par 72. She had two birdies on No. 15 and 18 and two bogeys.

Next up for the Bruins is a trip to the Stanford Intercollegiate (Oct. 11-13) at the Stanford Golf Course.
