Women's Soccer

Junior defender recorded a goal and assist and contributed to two shutouts.

Junior Lucy Parker has been selected by the Pac-12 Conference as the Defensive Player of the Week.

Parker, who is in her first year at UCLA after transferring from LSU, picks up her first Pac-12 award after leading the Bruins to a pair of shutout victories over Colorado and Utah. Against Colorado, she scored her first goal as a Bruin, heading in the game-winner in the 25th minute off a corner kick, and also picked up an assist, sending a gem of a long ball to Ashley Sanchez, who volleyed it past the goalkeeper for an 84th minute goal. Parker and the Bruin defense limited Colorado to a season-low two shots in the game, none on goal. Against Utah, Parker helped keep the Utes off the board, allowing just three shots on goal, seven overall.

Parker was also selected to Top Drawer Soccer's National Team of the Week.

The Bruins resume Pac-12 play on Saturday, Oct. 19 at league-leader Stanford.
