Bruins T-4 After First Day in Georgia

ALPHARETTA, Ga. - The Bruins were one of half a dozen teams to shoot under par on Friday on the first day of the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate Invitational, posting a 3-under 285 at the Lakeside Course. UCLA is in a tie for fourth, only two strokes back of second-place Stanford and nine behind leader Pepperdine.
Junior Devon Bling and sophomore Bryan Wiyang Teoh both shot 2-under 70 and are tied for 11th. Teoh flourished on his second nine, making five birdies on No. 1, 2, 6, 8 and 9 to go with three bogeys. Bling recorded three birdies, including one on his first hole of the day, No. 10, as well as No. 16 and 8, making just one bogey.
Junior Eddy Lai is tied for 22nd following an even-par 72. He also birdied No. 10, as well as No. 18 and 1 to go with three bogeys. Senior Hidetoshi Yoshihara and freshman Mason Greene are tied for 33rd. Yoshihara made a birdie on the 10th, 18th and ninth holes with four bogeys. Greene, playing as an individual, made back-to-back birdies on No. 17 and 18 and another on the fourth to go with four bogeys. Sophomore Sean Maruyama is tied for 55th (+3, 75), making two birdies on his first (No. 10) and last (No. 9) holes of the day, along with two bogeys and a triple.
Weather permitting, the Bruins will tee off the first hole at 9:55 a.m. ET/6:55 a.m. PT in the order of Maruyama, Bling, Teoh, Yoshihara and Lai. Greene will start on the 10th tee at 9:20 a.m. ET/6:20 a.m. PT.
