LOS ANGELES – The UCLA men's basketball team will face Stanislaus State this Wednesday evening (7:30 p.m., PT) in an exhibition game in Pauley Pavilion. The Bruins will be playing just one exhibition game in the preseason portion of their schedule. UCLA is set to open the regular season on Wednesday, Nov. 6, taking on Long Beach State in Pauley Pavilion.

MORE ABOUT UCLA'S TEAM
The Bruins' roster features 15 student-athletes, including 13 players who were on the team last season. Looking at last season's primary 11 rotation players, UCLA has returned eight of those student-athletes. UCLA's returning nucleus includes a pair of fifth-year seniors (Prince Ali, Alex Olesinski), junior Chris Smith, redshirt sophomores Jalen Hill and Cody Riley and sophomores Jules Bernard, Kenneth Nwuba and David Singleton. The Bruins have added incoming freshmen Jaime Jaquez Jr. and Jake Kyman, a pair of 6-foot-6 guards from the Southern California area.
 
In addition to Jaquez Jr. and Kyman, the Bruins have welcomed back guard Tyger Campbell and forward Shareef O'Neal, a pair of talented young players who missed the 2018-19 season due to medical reasons. Campbell, a 5-foot-11 guard who grew up in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, tore his ACL in his left knee in October 2018. As a senior at La Lumiere School in Indiana (2017-18), Campbell averaged 15.5 points and 7.2 assists per game. O'Neal, a 6-foot-9 forward from Los Angeles, was sidelined for the entire 2018-19 season after recovering from heart surgery in December.
 
UCLA's roster includes 10 freshmen and sophomores but does feature seven student-athletes who have played in at least 30 college games. Prince Ali, a 6-foot-4 senior, has played in 88 career games, making 48 starts. Ali and senior Alex Olesinski enrolled at UCLA in the summer of 2015 and have entered the season as UCLA's most experienced players (Olesinski has played in 73 games). Chris Smith, a 6-foot-9 junior who grew up in Fort Worth, Texas, has played in all 66 games for the Bruins the past two seasons, making 12 starts last season.
 
Mick Cronin enters his first season as The Michael Price Family UCLA Men's Head Basketball Coach. Hired as the Bruins' head coach in April 2019, Cronin spent the previous 13 seasons as head coach at the University of Cincinnati, his alma mater. He guided Cincinnati to the NCAA Tournament the past nine seasons and helped the Bearcats capture the America Athletic Conference's regular-season title in 2014 and 2018. Cincinnati also won the AAC Tournament championship in 2018 and 2019. Cronin is entering his 17th season as a college basketball head coach.
 
HEADED BACK TO MAUI
The Bruins will be playing in the Maui Jim Maui Invitational this November for the sixth time. Most recently, UCLA played in the eight-team tournament in Nov. 2015, defeating UNLV in a first-round matchup before dropping consecutive games to Kansas and Wake Forest. UCLA won the tournament in 2006, with consecutive victories over Chaminade, Kentucky and Georgia Tech. This season, the Bruins will open against BYU on Monday, Nov. 25. UCLA's second game will take place against either Kansas or Chaminade, while the Bruins will conclude the tournament on Wednesday, Nov. 27.
 
LOOKING AHEAD
UCLA is set to open its 101st season of men's basketball against Long Beach State on Wednesday, Nov. 6. The Bruins have compiled an all-time record of 16-1 against Long Beach State. The two schools faced off last season, with UCLA securing a 91-80 victory in Pauley Pavilion in the Bruins' second game of the year (in Pauley Pavilion). The Bruins led at halftime, 45-41, as then-freshman Moses Brown finished his second collegiate game with 17 points and 10 rebounds. UCLA and Long Beach State have played each other in five of the previous seven seasons, with the Bruins winning all five contests.
 
LIMITING THE OPPOSITION
As Cincinnati's head coach, Mick Cronin led the Bearcats to at least 20 victories in each of the past nine years. He guided his 2017-18 team to an overall mark of 31-5 (highest single-game win total as a head coach). For six straight seasons (2012-13 through 2017-18), Cincinnati ranked in the top 20 in the nation in opponents' field goal percentage. In fact, Cronin's Cincinnati squad in 2017-18 ranked No. 2, nationally, in that category, having limited the opposition to a 37.4 field goal percentage. In each of the past eight seasons, Cincinnati ranked in the top 45, nationally, in total blocked shots.
 
MORE NUMBERS
While serving as Cincinnati's head coach, Mick Cronin's 2017-18 team ranked No. 2 in the nation in opposing field goal percentage (.374) and No. 8 in opposing 3-point field goal percentage (.309). In addition, that Bearcats' squad ranked No. 2, nationally, in fewest points allowed per game (57.5). Cincinnati's 2016-17 squad ranked No. 9, nationally, in opposing field goal percentage (.388) and was No. 8 in fewest points allowed per game (61.3).
 
FIFTH-YEAR SENIORS
Prince Ali enters his fifth and final season in Westwood, having played in 88 games over three seasons. He has averaged 7.5 points and 2.3 rebounds per game in his career, shooting 42.6 percent from the field and 34.1 percent from 3-point range. Ali has scored 663 career points, needing to tally 337 more points to reach the 1,000-career-point milestone. Alex Olesinski also begins his fifth and final season with the Bruins, having played in 73 games for UCLA in three previous seasons. Olesinski has averaged 2.9 points and 2.9 rebounds per game and has shot 46.7 percent from the field.
 
FINISHING STRONG
Jules Bernard closed his freshman campaign by scoring in double figures in eight of UCLA's final 11 games. He had scored at least 10 points in just two of the Bruins' first 22 contests. The 6-foot-6 guard finished his freshman year having averaged 7.6 points and 3.1 rebounds per game (33 games). In the team's final 11 games, Bernard averaged 11.5 points per game and shot 56.0 percent from the field (42-for-75). In addition, he shot 41.7 percent from 3-point territory in the team's final 11 games. Bernard scored a season-high 20 points in the Bruins' overtime victory against Oregon on Saturday, Feb. 23.
 
STANDING TALL
The Bruins enter their 2019-20 season with six student-athletes who stand at 6-foot-9 or taller. Senior Alex Olesinski and sophomore Jalen Hill lead that group, standing at approximately 6-foot-10. UCLA has four players who are 6-foot-9, including junior Chris Smith, sophomores Cody Riley and Kenneth Nwuba and freshman Shareef O'Neal. Last season, the Bruins had eight players who measured at least 6-foot-8 in height.
 
STREAKING
UCLA has made at least one 3-pointer played in its last 655 games. That 3-point streak began after the Bruins went 0-for-14 from 3-point territory in a 78-63 loss at No. 2-ranked Stanford on Feb. 3, 2000 (Maples Pavilion). UCLA has made at least three 3-pointers in 202 of 207 games since the start of the 2013-14 season. The Bruins made a school single-game-record 19 three-pointers (on 31 attempts) at Colorado on Jan. 12, 2017 (UCLA won that game, 104-89).
 
DOUBLE-FIGURE REBOUNDS
Four players on the Bruins' roster have had at least one career game with 10 or more rebounds (Jalen Hill, Cody Riley, Alex Olesinski and Chris Smith). In addition, Prince Ali had a career-best nine rebounds in a game versus Utah on Jan. 11, 2018. Hill leads the group with five games of at least 10 rebounds, including a career-best 20 boards versus Presbyterian on Nov. 19, 2018. Riley has twice registered at least 10 rebounds, while Olesinski and Smith have accomplished that feat in one game (Olesinski and Smith have each registered career highs of 10 rebounds).
 
LEADING THE WAY IN 3-POINT PERCENTAGE
David Singleton finished his freshman season ranking No. 6 on the school's single-season list for highest 3-point field goal percentage (46.7%). In order to qualify for that top-10 list, players must have made a minimum of one 3-pointer per game and at least 30 total 3-pointers during a season. Singleton made 35 of 75 shots from 3-point distance, logging the second-highest percentage of any Pac-12 player. Cal's Matt Bradley finished the 2018-19 season having shot 47.2% from 3-point range (50 of 106).
