October 30, 2019 | Women's Tennis
LOS ANGELES โ Four members of the UCLA women's tennis team will take part in the Jack Kramer Club Collegiate Invitational, running Thursday, Oct. 31 through Sunday, Nov. 3 in Rolling Hills Estates, Calif.
Juniors Abi Altick and Annette Goulak, sophomore Taylor Johnson and freshman Sasha Vagramov make up the quartet looking to continue the team's strong start to the fall. Each will participate in the 64-player singles draw, while the tandem of Goulak/Vagramov will make its debut as part of the 32-pair doubles field.
Goulak and Johnson have five singles wins each to earn a tie for third on the team. Vagramov has a pair, while Altick earned her first in an extra match at the ITA Southwest Regional Championships.
LAST TIME OUT
Five of eight participating UCLA players were still in action on the final day of ITA Southwest Regional Championships play, as both of the event's final rounds proved to be all-Bruin affairs. Freshman Abbey Forbes proved to be the star of the day, as she teamed with a fellow newcomer, junior Goulak, to claim the doubles title and took control down the stretch en route to a 7-6(3), 6-2 win in the singles final versus redshirt senior Jada Hart. Forbes and Goulak beat Altick and Johnson, 6-3, 6-4, in the doubles final. Johnson reached the singles round of 16, while Goulak also won a singles match.
