Goulak and Vagramov shined in debuts, while Johnson was unbeaten in three doubles matches.

MALIBU, Calif. – Annette Goulak and Sasha Vagramov made their debuts for the UCLA women's tennis team over four days at the inaugural Women's Collegiate Invitational, an event that concluded Sunday at Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center.

Sophomore Taylor Johnson also held a spot in the field, as players participated in singles and doubles matches. Each Bruin registered at least two singles wins, while a pair of doubles tandems went unbeaten in a combined three contests.

Vagramov won her debut in the Orange singles draw, coming back to defeat Margaryta Bilokin of Duke in three sets, 3-6, 6-2, 6-2. Vagramov would push No. 13 Marta Gonzalez of Georgia in the round of 16 before falling 3-6, 7-5. That was not the end of the Bruin freshman's time in Malibu, however, as she went on to post a 7-5, 4-6, 6-2 win versus Alyvia Jones of Michigan in an extra match. She also faced two other ranked opponents, pushing No. 110 Alle Sanford of North Carolina in a 6-4, 3-6, 1-0(5) loss and falling to No. 47 Giulia Pairone of Michigan, 6-1, 6-3.

In the Blue draw, Goulak defeated San Diego's Gemma Garcia, 6-4, 6-4, to advance. The Georgia transfer's success continued in the quarterfinals, where she dropped her first set against Duke's Summer Dvorak without winning a game. Goulak recovered by doubling up Dvorak in the final two sets to move into the final four. There, eventual Blue-draw champion Lisa Zaar of Pepperdine took down Goulak, 6-3, 6-2. Goulak added a win versus Arizona State's Tereza Kolarova, 7-5, 6-3.

Johnson suffered losses versus Vanderbilt's Emma Kurtz, 6-4, 6-4, and Garcia, 6-1, 6-4, before finishing the weekend strong. The Prescott, Ariz. native controlled her extra matches, beating Sophia Patel of UNC, 6-2, 6-1, and Samantha Alicea of ASU, 6-1, 6-2.

The doubles team of Goulak and Johnson notched two wins, knocking off Georgia Drummy and Amanda Meyer of Vanderbilt and Pairone and Chiara Lommer of Michigan by identical 6-3 scores. Johnson and Vagramov beat Patel and Anika Yarlagadda, 6-4, in the Bruin duo's lone match.
