Both matches will be televised live on Pac-12 Networks and are the opening matches in doubleheaders with the UCLA men's soccer team, who play Stanford at 8 pm on Thursday and California at 4pm on Sunday. One ticket is good for each game that day.
THINK PINK
Sunday's game will be the Bruins' pink game, where they will play to raise awareness for breast cancer research. Pink pom poms will be distributed, along with "I Play For" signs.
SCOUTING THE BUFFALOES
Colorado enters the week with a 9-2-1 overall record and is 1-1-0 in conference. The Buffaloes went 0-1-1 last weekend, tying Oregon 2-2 and losing to Oregon State, 2-1. Senior Taylor Kornieck broke the Colorado school record for career points last weekend, recording her 95th career point with a goal against Oregon. Kornieck has 23 points off nine goals and five assists this season. Tessa Barton is Colorado's No. 2 scorer with 10 points off four goals and two assists.
THE SERIES WITH COLORADO
UCLA is 9-2 all-time against Colorado and won the last two matchups, including last year's matchup in Boulder. Ashley Sanchez scored the winning goal in that game in the 78th minute. Colorado's last victory came in 2016, 1-0 at home. This will be the first time Colorado has played at UCLA in four years.
SCOUTING THE UTES
Utah enters the week 6-3-3, 1-0-2 in conference play. The Utes are unbeaten in their last seven contests, posting a 4-0-3 record. Holly Daugirda leads the team in scoring with eight points (3 goals, 2 assists). Nine different players have scored goals for the Utes. Goalkeeper Carly Nelson has seven shutouts and a 0.78 goals against average.
THE SERIES WITH UTAH
UCLA has won the last two matchups, including a 5-1 road win a year ago during which five different Bruins scored goals - Karina Rodriguez, Chloe Castaneda, Delanie Sheehan, Jessie Fleming and Dani Satterwhite. Utah's last win came in Salt Lake City in 2016, 2-0.
GAME NO. 600
Thursday's game against Colorado will mark the 600th game in UCLA Women's Soccer history. The first varsity game for the Bruin women took place on Sept. 7, 1993, an 11-0 victory at Southern California College. UCLA's all-time record is 454-103-42.
BRUINS SPLIT IN ARIZONA
After dropping a 3-0 contest at Arizona on Thursday, the Bruins regrouped in a big way Sunday, defeating Arizona State, 4-1. UCLA scored four unanswered goals against the Sun Devils, including two in the first eight minutes of the game. Viviana Villacorta's second minute goal set the tone. She, along with Ashley Sanchez, finished the game with one goal and one assist.
FLEMING, MICAH BACK FROM NATIONAL TEAM DUTY
World Cup players Jessie Fleming (Canada) and Teagan Micah (Australia) are back from a one-week stint with their respective national teams. Micah's Australian teammate Rachel Lowe, however, remains in Australia with the Under-20 National Team.
RODRIGUEZ RETURNS
After missing the last 11 games of the season last year with a knee injury, fifth-year senior Anika Rodriguez made her return to competition on Sept. 5 at Santa Clara, seeing 10 minutes of action in the second half. Rodriguez earned her first start of the season against Arizona State, played in a season-high 48 minutes and also recorded her first point with an assist in that game.
SANCHEZ UP TO SECOND IN CAREER ASSISTS
After securing an assist in the Bruins' last game at Arizona State, junior forward Ashley Sanchez has moved into a tie for second on UCLA's career assist list with 32. Sanchez joins Sam Mewis and Sarah Killion, who each totaled 32 from 2011-14. The Bruins' all-time assist leader is Iris Mora, who recorded 38 from 2002-05.
MONEY MARLEY
Junior Marley Canales has been money in the bank for the Bruins on penalty kicks. She is a perfect 3-3 in her career, including 2-2 this season. Most memorably, Canales came in cold to score the winning penalty kick in the 2017 NCAA semifinals against Duke.
MILESTONES FOR MICAH
It's been quite a 2019 for senior goalkeeper Teagan Micah. After spending the summer with the Australian Women's National Team at the World Cup, Micah returned for her final season in Westwood and hit several major milestones during non-conference play. She earned her 200th career save in the season opening shutout win over Iowa State, recorded her 50th career win in the shutout victory over Florida, and earned her 30th career shutout against Wisconsin. She also won a Pac-12 record eighth Goalkeeper of the Week award on Sept. 3 and was named the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week on Sept. 17 after making a season-high five saves in the shutout win over Wisconsin. Micah, who has four solo and one shared shutout and a 0.80 goals against average, has moved into third on UCLA's all-time saves chart with 218 and moved into a tie for third with 52 career wins. With 30 shutouts, she is one shy of tying for third on UCLA's career list.
SWEET 16 FOR SANCHEZ
Ashley Sanchez ran her school record point scoring streak to 16 games after scoring in the first three games of the season. Her streak ran from Sept. 30, 2018 to Aug. 29, 2019, and she totaled nine goals and 16 assists (35 points) during that time. With just over two seasons under her belt, Sanchez already ranks tied for second (with Sam Mewis and Sarah Killion) on UCLA's career list with 32 assists and is just six away from tying Iris Mora's school record of 38. Sanchez leads the team with four goals, five assists and 13 points.
MAINSTAYS
Seven Bruin players have started in all 11 games this season - Ashley Sanchez, Kaiya McCullough, Karina Rodriguez, Viviana Villacorta, Lucy Parker, Delanie Sheehan and Marley Canales. McCullough has made 63 consecutive starts, the only game she has not started coming on Oct. 23, 2016 due to illness. Rodriguez has started in 39 consecutive games. Parker started every game at LSU in 2017 and 2018 and has a streak of 53 consecutive starts. She leads the team in minutes played with 1,005.
FRESHMEN IMPRESS
Three Bruin freshmen have cracked the starting lineup this season - forwards Mia Fishel and Kali Trevithick and defender Brianne Riley. Fishel is tied for the team lead in goals scored (four) and also leads all Bruin players in shots (29) and is tied for first in shots on goal (16). Fishel scored the game-winning goal in the Bruins' 1-0 win at Long Beach State and enjoyed her first multiple goal game with a two-goal showing in a 4-0 win against Hawaii. Trevithick, who has eight shots in four games, picked up her first assist in the Bruins' 2-0 win over Florida. Trevithick was a standout in the two exhibition games, recording two goals and two assists. Riley earned her first start at left back at Arizona State and played in a season-high 75 minutes. She has played in nine games, including the last seven consecutive.
UCLA DEBUTS
Six Bruins made their official UCLA debuts in the season opener - junior transfer Lucy Parker, redshirt freshman Shana Flynn, and freshmen Mia Fishel, Kali Trevithick, Rachel Lowe and Brianne Riley. Four more freshmen earned their first collegiate appearances at Hawaii on Sept. 22 - Kylie Kerr, Jackie Gilday, Brecken Mozingo and Janae DeFazio - while Lauren Brzykcy and Maki Umehara made their first appearances of the season.
IN THE RANKINGS
UCLA ranks No. 22 in the United Soccer Coaches poll and No. 16 in the Top Drawer Soccer rankings.
FLEMING SELECTED SENIOR CLASS AWARD CANDIDATE
UCLA team captain and international star Jessie Fleming has been selected as one of 30 candidates for the Senior CLASS Award for women's soccer. The award honors student-athletes who excel both on and off the field. Fleming is a two-time World Cup player and Olympic bronze medalist who has already amassed 69 caps for the Canadian Women's National Team. As a sophomore at UCLA in 2017, she was a finalist for the MAC Hermann Trophy and earned first-team All-America honors. During her freshman year in 2016, she led UCLA in scoring with 11 goals and 27 points. In 2018, she missed half the season while on Canadian National Team duty yet still recorded five goals and five assists in just 11 games. This season, she has totaled seven points on two goals and three assists. Fleming is a three-time first-team All-Pac-12 honoree and was Top Drawer Soccer's Freshman of the Year in 2016. She was also just the fourth UCLA freshman ever to earn NSCAA All-America honors. Top Drawer Soccer currently rates her No. 1 in the Top 100 Player rankings.
The Bruins' team captain the last three years, Fleming is also a leader in the classroom, earning honor roll distinction four times and honorable mention Pac-12 All-Academic honors twice in one of the most challenging majors on campus – materials engineering (with an environmental science minor). This summer, she earned a 4.0 GPA in her summer courses. Additionally, she is volunteering with a company that collects and redistributes extra produce from farmer's markets.
SUMMER SCHOOL STANDOUTS
A total of five Bruins earned 4.0 GPAs for their 2019 summer courses, which ended in mid-September - senior Chloe Castaneda, junior Jessie Fleming and freshmen Jackie Gilday, Hannah Mitchell and Kali Trevithick.
CROMWELL CLIMBING COACHING CHARTS
UCLA head coach Amanda Cromwell is making a quick rise up the coaching charts in winning percentage and victories. With a 325-121-40 record at the start of the 2019 season, she ranked No. 15 in winning percentage (.710) and No. 18 in victories (325) among all active Division I coaches. All-time, she is at No. 16 in winning percentage and No. 21 in victories.
ELLIS TO BE INDUCTED INTO UCLA ATHLETIC HALL OF FAME
Former UCLA head coach Jill Ellis will be inducted into the UCLA Athletic Hall of Fame on Nov. 1. Ellis, the winningest coach in UCLA women's soccer history, posted a 229-45-14 record over 12 years (1999-2010) and led UCLA to eight College Cup appearances, including seven in a row from 2003-09. She won seven Pac-10 titles during her tenure and coached 13 Bruins to 24 NSCAA All-America honors. She left UCLA to join the U.S. Women's National Teams in 2011 and went on to become the head coach in 2014. Ellis led the U.S. to back-to-back FIFA Women's World Cup titles in 2015 and 2019, becoming only the second coach in men's or women's World Cup history to accomplish this feat. She recently won the FIFA World Coach of the Year award for Women's Football for the second time and completed her tenure as head coach of the U.S. Women's National Team as the winningest coach in USWNT history with a 106-7-19 overall record.

The Bruins will play at No. 2 Stanford on Saturday, Oct. 19 at 7 pm.
