UCLA (4-5, 4-2) travels to play at No. 8 Utah (8-1, 5-1) on Saturday at 5 p.m. PT. The game will be televised by FOX. The Bruins own a 11-6 overall advantage in the series against Utah, which started in 1933. The Bruins have dropped the last three meetings with the Utes, but posted their most recent series win at Salt Lake City in 2015.
Last season, the Utes captured a 41-10 decision at the Rose Bowl. The Bruins led 7-3 after the end of the first quarter, but it was all Utah after that. Zack Moss powered for 211 yards on the ground for the Utes. Joshua Kelley checked in at 90 ground yards for the Bruins. UCLA managed 291 yards of total offense.
In the last Bruin series win in 2015, UCLA scored on two long drives to start the first and third quarters. Josh Rosen completed 15 of 30 passes for 220 yards and a score (28-yard pass to Thomas Duarte). Paul Perkins added 98 yards rushing and a touchdown. Jordan Payton caught 7 balls for 105 yards as he became the UCLA career record holder for receptions during the contest. The Bruins, who owned a 10-6 lead at the break, held Utah to three fi eld goals on the day. Perkins' short TD run with five minutes left in the third quarter completed the game's scoring as neither team scored in the final 15 minutes.
