Sanchez Selected Pac-12 Offensive Player of Week
November 12, 2019 | Women's Soccer
Junior forward Ashley Sanchez was named the Pac-12 Conference Offensive Player of the Week after her record-breaking performance in the Bruins' 4-2 win over USC.
Sanchez assisted on two goals in the Bruins' regular season finale victory, setting a new school record with 39 career assists and upping her season total to 12, just three off the school single-season record she tied a year ago. In addition to her two assists, Sanchez recorded eight shots in the game, four of which were on goal. She and her Bruin teammates outshot USC 27-4 in the game.
This is Sanchez's first conference award of the season and second of her career. UCLA has a conference-best 84 all-time Pac-12 weekly awards, including six this season.
The Bruins, who have won five straight and eight of their last nine, will begin postseason on Friday, Nov. 15 against Lamar University in the first round of the NCAA Tournament at 6pm at Wallis Annenberg Stadium.
