UCLA Finishes Fourth at Ohio State Invitational

Amy Okada led the Bruins on Saturday with a third place finish in the 200 fly

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The UCLA swim and dive team finished fourth in the Ohio State Invitational with a final score of 1702.5.
 
Highlights from the third day of action included Amy Okada (200 fly) and the UCLA A relay team (400 free) earning third-place finishes.
 
The Bruins started the finals session with four swimmers making the B final in the 200 back. Abriana Howard was UCLA's top finisher in that event, touching in 1:58.14 for 13th place.
 
UCLA had three swimmers in the A Final of the 100 free, led by sophomore Claire Grover's sixth-place time of 49.53. Junior Kenisha Liu (49.92, eighth) and freshman Brooke Schaffer (50.69, 10th) also posted top-10 finishes.
 
Emma Cain ended up fifth in the 200 breast finals with a time of 2:14.06. Emily Lo (2:15.06, 12th) had a solid showing in the B Final.
 
Okada had a highlight showing in the final individual swimming event of the day, the 200 fly. The senior from Beverly Hills, Calif. touched in 1:56.93 to grab third place.
 
In the diving portion of Saturday's events, sophomore Veronica Thompson placed 11th with a score of 193.00.
 
UCLA finished the meet with a third place finish in the 400 free relay from Grover, Liu, Rachel Rhee, and Maisie Jameson.
 
The Bruins are next in action at the Toyota U.S. Open from Dec. 4-7.
