UCLA (4-7, 4-4) will host California (6-5, 3-5) on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. The game will be televised by FS1. UCLA leads in the series 55-33-1 and has won five of the last six meetings. The Bruin IMG Radio Network will broadcast the contest, which will also be aired over 97.3 FM, Sirius/XM, uclabruins.com and tunein.com and the TuneIn App. UCLA is proud to join our institution in celebrating UCLA's Centennial all season long. The football team will mark the Centennial with a UCLA 100 helmet sticker for every game, and a UCLA 100 jersey patch for all home games.
Last season in Berkeley, UCLA running back Joshua Kelley rushed for 157 yards and three touchdowns, and the Bruin defense forced five turnovers as UCLA registered its fi rst victory of the 2018 season. Quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson completed his fi rst nine passes and fi nished the game 13-of-15 for 141 yards. The .866 completion percentage by Thompson-Robinson was the thirdbest mark by a Bruin since 1980. Linebacker Keisean Lucier-South led the Bruin defensive effort with an interception, a scoop and score, and a strip sack, finishing with six tackles.
In the last meeting played in the Rose Bowl, JJ Molson connected on a 37-yard fi eld goal attempt with four seconds left in the Friday night contest to lead UCLA past California, 30-27, in the regular-season finale. The win secured The Bruins' fi rst undefeated home campaign in Pasadena since posting a 6-0 mark in 2005. With the game tied 27-27, back-up quarterback Devon Modster, now at Cal, drove the Bruins down the fi eld to the 20-yard line in the game's fi nal 2:22. Molson's game-winning fi eld goal helped the Bruins become bowl eligible.
THE WATCH LIST
โข The Bruins have won the last four series meetings with California played in Pasadena (last loss in 2009) ... Over last the 15 series meetings, the winning team has scored at least 30 points each time and put up an average of 38.1 points per game.
โข Kyle Philips leads UCLA in receptions (55-T18th on the school single-season list) and would be the first redshirt freshman to do so since 2001 when Craig Bragg topped the team. His 55 catches are the most-ever by a Bruin freshman (redshirt or true) in a single season. The only Bruin receivers with more than Philips' two career 100-yard receiving games (at Stanford, at USC) are J.J. Stokes and Jordan Lasley, who each had three. His 12 receptions in the USC game were most-ever by a Bruin freshman.
โข Joshua Kelley, with 984 yards, is looking to become the eighth UCLA RB to post back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons -- Paul Perkins 2014/15, DeShaun Foster 2000/01, Skip Hicks 1997/98, Karim Abdul-Jabbar 1994/95, Gaston Green 1986/87, Freeman McNeil 1979/80, Wendell Tyler 1975/76.
โข UCLA has scored on its opening drive in 8 of the 11 games this season and it has scored a TD on its fi rst possession in all four winning games.
โข UCLA, which had 11 sacks last season, has 22 sacks in the last 8 games -- Sack leaders in last 8 games: OLB Josh Woods 4.5, ILB Krys Barnes 3.0, OLB Keisean Lucier-South 2.5, DL Osa Odighizuwa 2.5, -- Barnes is T7th in P12 in tackles for loss (0.91/g).
โข Joshua Kelley ranks second in the P12 with a 98.4 yards/g average ... Kelley has moved to 14th on all-time UCLA career list (2,227 yds) and has 10 career 100-yard games (4 in '19). He is trying to become the fi rst Bruin to lead the league since 2014. Paul Perkins, in 2014, and DeShaun Foster, in 2001, are the only other Bruins to do so since the 1990s.
โข Dorian Thompson-Robinson's 431 yards of total offense at USC ranks 10th on the all-time school list and was his second 400-yard effort of 2019 (564 at Wash. State earlier this year) --- Josh Rosen, Cade McNown and Brett Hundley are the only other Bruin QBs with multiple 400-yard total offense games in their careers.
