November 04, 2019 | Baseball
LOS ANGELES โ The UCLA baseball team will play its first game of the fall season this weekend, hosting local rival UC Irvine at Jackie Robinson Stadium on Saturday, Nov. 9.
The two teams will play 14 innings with first pitch scheduled for 12:00 p.m. Admission and parking are both free.
UCLA is coming off a historic 2019 campaign, as the Bruins posted a 52-11 record, spent over half the season ranked No. 1 in the country, earned the No. 1 national seed in the NCAA Tournament, and had a program-record 13 players selected in the MLB First-Year Player Draft.
The Bruins have a strong contingent of returners including All-American outfielder Garrett Mitchell, reigning Stopper of the Year Holden Powell, 2018 MLB First-Rounder Matt McLain, and 2019 Opening Day starter Zach Pettway.
UCLA swept the season series over UC Irvine in 2019, winning a pair of midweek matchups. The Bruins bested the Anteaters 9-3 at home on Apr. 9 before blanking them 7-0 in Irvine on May 14.
