McCullough Earns Scholar All-Region Honors

UCLA senior defender Kaiya McCullough (Mission Viejo, Calif.) has been named to the United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-Region third team.
The 2019 Pac-12 Women's Soccer Scholar-Athlete of the Year, McCullough started every game she played at UCLA – 92 overall and 76 in a row to close her career. She completed her undergraduate courses last week and will graduate early with a degree in Political Science.
McCullough earned second-team All-Region honors in 2017 and Pac-12 All-Freshman acclaim in 2016 and was a three-time Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week. Under her watch as the Bruins' center back, she helped UCLA record a total of 43 shutouts in four years, including 13 in 2019. UCLA opponents were limited to single-digit shots in 18 of 24 games this past season.
She has earned several academic honors throughout her career. She was a two-time honorable mention Pac-12 All-Academic honoree and earned CoSIDA Academic All-District honors in 2017. She received the Athletic Director's Academic Excellence Award in 2019 for making the Director's Honor Roll every quarter she has been at UCLA and earned a 4.0 GPA in two of those quarters.
To be eligible for Scholar All-Region recognition, student-athletes must be a junior or above in academic standing, have a 3.30 cumulative grade point average or better throughout their career and have started more than 50 percent of all games and significantly contribute to their team.
