Redshirt senior midfielder Chloe Castaneda of the UCLA women's soccer team has been named the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for Nov. 25-Dec. 1.
Castaneda scored two goals in the first 18 minutes of the game to lead UCLA to a 4-0 road win over defending NCAA champion Florida State in the NCAA Quarterfinals. The victory put UCLA in the College Cup for the 11th time in school history. Castaneda now ranks third on the team in goals scored (5) and points (14), all of her points coming since Oct. 31. The win by the Bruins on FSU's home field was only the second ever by an opponent in NCAA Tournament play. The Seminoles had entered the game with a 47-1-1 record all-time at home in NCAA play.
This is Castaneda's first UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week award of the season and of her career.
Also nominated: Japreece Dean, W. Basketball; Jaime Jaquez, Jr., M. Basketball; Mac May, W. Volleyball.
