December 05, 2019 | Baseball

LOS ANGELES โ€“ The UCLA baseball program on Thursday unveiled its schedule for the 2020 season, featuring 56 overall games including 30 regular season contests at Jackie Robinson Stadium.

The Bruins open the new campaign with a three-game set at home against UC Riverside starting on Friday, Feb. 14.

Overall, the Bruins will be playing 11 teams that qualified for the 2019 NCAA Tournament. That group features a trio of squads that reached Super Regionals including defending national champion Vanderbilt. In all, UCLA's scheduled 2020 opponents have combined for 36 national championships all-time.

The Bruins' non-conference slate is highlighted by a pair of prestigious tournaments, as UCLA will travel to play in the Frisco College Classic in late February before co-hosting the Southern California College Baseball Classic in early March.

The Frisco College Classic is played at Dr Pepper Ballpark โ€“ home of the Double-A Frisco RoughRiders โ€“ in Frisco, Texas and runs from Feb. 28-Mar. 1. The 2020 field also includes Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, and Illinois, all NCAA-qualifying teams a season ago.

UCLA and USC will co-host the Southern California College Baseball Classic from Mar. 6-8. The Bruins will host TCU and Vanderbilt at Jackie Robinson Stadium on the first two days of the tournament before facing off against crosstown rival USC in the tournament finale at Dedeaux Field.

Other non-conference series include a three-game set at home against St. Mary's from Feb. 21-23 and a home-and-away matchup with Cal State Fullerton from Apr. 3-5.

UCLA opens up Pac-12 play on Mar. 13 with a three-game set against Oregon. The Bruins will also host league rivals Washington State (Mar. 20-22), Arizona State (Apr. 17-19), Stanford (May 1-3), and USC (May 21-23).

UCLA travels for Pac-12 road series at Utah (Mar. 27-29), Washington (Apr. 9-11), Oregon State (Apr. 24-26), Arizona (May 8-10), and California (May 15-17).

The Bruins will stay in Southern California for their midweek slate all season, facing Loyola Marymount, UC Santa Barbara, Pepperdine, UC Irvine, and Long Beach State. In addition, UCLA will play Japan's Keio University in a Feb. 25 exhibition at Jackie Robinson Stadium.

The postseason is scheduled to begin on May 29 with NCAA Regionals. Super Regionals are scheduled for the following weekend, Jun. 5-7, followed by the College World Series in Omaha, Neb. from Jun. 13-24.

The Bruins are coming off a 2019 season that ranks amongย the most successful in program history. UCLA tallied a school-record 52 wins, had its highest winning percentage since 1924 (.828), was selected as the No. 1 national seed in the NCAA Tournament, and had a program record 13 players selected in the MLB First-Year Player Draft.
