BERKELEY, Calif. โ Kris Wilkes recorded his third career double-double, totaling 27 points and 10 rebounds, to lead UCLA past California, 75-67, in overtime at Haas Pavilion on Wednesday night.
ย
Wilkes scored 14 of his team-leading 27 points in the second half and added two points in overtime for UCLA (13-12, 6-6 Pac-12), which snapped a three-game losing skid. UCLA logged its fifth straight win against California.
ย
David Singleton was instrumental in the Bruins' second-half comeback. He finished the game with 12 points, making 4 of 7 shots โ all from beyond the 3-point arc.

Jaylen Hands was a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line in overtime and finished the Pac-12 victory with 12 points. Moses Brown tallied a team-leading 11 rebounds, scored four points and blocked three shots.
After a difficult first three minutes, UCLA pulled all five starters from the game in an early mass substitution. The Bruins found themselves facing an early 11-2 deficit before clawing back in the second half against California (5-19, 0-12 Pac-12).
"We have a lot of confidence in all 10," UCLA interim head coach Murry Bartow said. "We'll tell them that, 'Hey, whoever is playing good is going to play. And if you aren't playing good, we'll just have to sit you. Maybe it's nothing that you have done horribly wrong, but we've just got to get other guys in.' And when other guys are playing well, I like to stick with them. David Singleton was great and Jules was great. The thing that you are always going to get out of those two guys, Jules and David, they're really going to compete to win. They're going to give you a great competitive effort, and they've got great spirit."
ย
California's Darius McNeill scored a team-leading 18 points for the host Golden Bears. Justice Sueing added 15 points and Connor Vanover had 12 points for California.
ย
In a back-and-forth contest, California forced overtime when Matt Bradley nailed a 3-pointer with 27 seconds to play, tying the contest at 64-64. UCLA had one final opportunity to win the game in the final 20 seconds, but Wilkes' 3-point attempt was unsuccessful.
ย
UCLA never trailed in the five-minute overtime session. The Bruins took a 65-64 lead on a free throw by Brown at the 4:18 mark. UCLA extended its margin to three points, 67-64, on a layup by Chris Smith.
ย
The Bruins pushed their overtime advantage to 69-64 after Hands made a pair of free throws with 1:52 remaining. California reduced UCLA's cushion to 69-67 on a 3-pointer by Sueing. From that point in overtime, UCLA made each of its next six free throws to put the game out of reach.
ย
California led UCLA by as many as 11 points early in the second half. The Golden Bears entered the locker room at halftime with a 34-25 lead and scored the first basket after the intermission, making the score 36-25.

UCLA trailed throughout the first half, falling behind 9-0 within the first five minutes and by an 11-2 margin with fewer than 12 minutes to play before halftime.
