LOS ANGELES – All five starters scored in double figures for the first time this season as UCLA took down Washington 76-60 on Sunday afternoon at Pauley Pavilion presented by Wescom.
Redshirt freshman Lindsey Corsaro scored a team-high 14 points, going 3-for-4 from deep, while senior Japreece Dean had 13 points and seven assists.
Sophomore Michaela Onyenwere and senior Kennedy Burke tallied 12 points apiece, and senior Lajahna Drummer posted 10 points and a team-high seven rebounds.
UCLA (13-9, 6-4) outscored Washington (8-15, 1-10) 30-11 in the opening frame to set the tone and never looked back.
The Storyline
UCLA opened the game on fire, making 11 of its first 13 shots to race to a 26-7 advantage after a jumper by Dean. The Bruins proceeded to outscore the Huskies 30-11 in the opening frame, led by seven points from Onyenwere and six apiece from Dean and Drummer.
The Bruins picked up right where they left off in the second quarter, opening the stanza on a 7-0 run to stretch their lead to 37-11 after a layup by sophomore Lauryn Miller. UCLA ultimately entered the locker room with a 43-19 advantage, shooting 66.7 percent (18-for-27) in the first half and scoring 19 points off 11 Washington turnovers.
The Huskies hit five of their first eight from the field in the third quarter to pull within 19 (50-31). UCLA responded with consecutive baskets from Burke to push the lead back to 23, and the Bruins took a 62-40 lead into the final frame.
Washington never got closer than 15 in the fourth, as UCLA sailed to its fourth win a row and improved to 10-0 this season when leading through three quarters.
