
Bruins Capture No. 6 Seed in Albany Region, Set to Face Tennessee

LOS ANGELES – The 20th-ranked UCLA women's basketball team earned its fourth-consecutive at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament, as the Bruins notched the No. 6 seed in the Albany Region.
UCLA (20-12) will play 11th-seeded Tennessee in the First Round on March 23 at 1 p.m. (ET) at the University of Maryland, who will host as the No. 3 seed and face No. 14 Radford.
The Bruins are making their 16th appearance in the NCAA Tournament and fourth in a row after reaching the Sweet Sixteen in each of the last three years, a school-record streak. Last season, UCLA made it to the Elite Eight for the first time since 1999.
Previous NCAA Tournament appearances include 1983, 1985, 1990, 1992, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2004, 2006, 2010, 2011, 2013, 2016, 2017 and 2018. This is the fifth trip to the dance under The Michael Price Family UCLA Head Women's Basketball Coach, Cori Close. UCLA sports an all-time NCAA Tournament record of 18-15.
UCLA hasn't faced Tennessee since 2011; however, the Lady Vols have owned the series, 18-1. The Bruins' lone win against Tennessee came on Jan. 3, 1981, when UCLA came away with a 65-62 win in Knoxville.
The top overall seed in the Albany Region is Louisville, followed by Connecticut at No. 2. Along with Louisville, the No. 1 seeds in this year's tournament include Baylor, Notre Dame and Mississippi State.
From the Pac-12, a total of six teams made the field – Oregon (No. 2 seed), Stanford (No. 2), Oregon State (No. 4), Arizona State (No. 5), UCLA (No. 6) and California (No. 8).
The NCAA Tournament features a 64-team field with the first two rounds hosted on campus sites in brackets of four teams. This year's Final Four will be hosted by the University of South Florida at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Fla., from April 5-7.
