UCLA Baseball to Host Fantasy Camp for Veterans on Apr. 10

April 03, 2019 | Baseball

LOS ANGELES – The No. 1-ranked UCLA baseball program will host a Jackie Robinson Fantasy Camp for Veterans on Wednesday, Apr. 10 at Jackie Robinson Stadium. The event, supported by the Gary Sinise Foundation, is free of charge and open to all veterans*.

Participants will receive a BBQ dinner, a free t-shirt (first 200 veterans) and have the opportunity to watch UCLA baseball practice. Once the Bruins are done practicing, veterans are invited to take part in fantasy camp batting practice on the field at Jackie Robinson Stadium.

Gates will open for participants at 4:00 p.m. and dinner will be served until approximately 5:00 p.m. UCLA head baseball coach John Savage and select players will welcome veterans at approximately 5:15 p.m. ahead of Jackie Robinson Fantasy Baseball Camp for Veterans at 5:30 p.m.

Next week's event fits into a strong tradition of UCLA baseball military appreciation. Admission and parking for UCLA Baseball home games has been, and will continue to be, free of charge for active duty members of the military and veterans. The Bruins continue to host several events – such as BBQs and golf clinics – for veterans every season.

UCLA, ranked No. 1 in the country for the third consecutive week, heads north this weekend to face No. 2 Stanford in Palo Alto. The series will be the first No. 1 vs. No. 2 matchup in college baseball since the 2016 season.
