April 25, 2019 | Women's Tennis
OJAI, Calif. โ The second-seeded UCLA women's tennis team defeated No. 10 Arizona 4-0 in the Pac-12 Championships quarterfinal round Thursday at Weil Tennis Academy.
The Bruins did not drop a set in the match, which Jada Hart clinched on the top court. Gabby Andrews and Elysia Bolton also turned in singles victories to keep momentum on UCLA's side after it took the doubles point. The Bruins improved to 17-6 with the win, advancing to meet No. 3 Washington or No. 6 Arizona State in Friday's second semifinal. The Wildcats dropped to 12-12.
The No. 12 pair of Elysia Bolton and Jada Hart continued its winning ways, blanking Sophia Thomas and Marie Van Aelst of Arizona on Court 2 for the day's first victory. The win marked Bolton-Hart's 10th in a row and team-high 27th on the season.

Fourth-ranked Bruins Gabby Andrews and Ayan Broomfield jumped out to a 4-0 lead on the top court against Emma Wilson and Talya Zandberg, but it was the Court 3 pair of Abi Altick and Taylor Johnson that would secure the day's first point. After falling behind Gitte Heynemans and Camila Wesbrooks 0-2, the Bruins answered with six of the last seven games. Altick-Johnson has played together just three times since March 9, but has claimed a win on each occasion.
Each first set went the way of the Bruins, putting them one step closer to the overall win. No. 29 Bolton sped through both of her sets for a 6-0, 6-0 result against Wesbrooks on Court 2. The victory, which made it 2-0, increased the freshman's team-high totals to 25 on the season and 16 in dual matches.
Knotted at two first-set games apiece with Thomas on Court 6, Andrews settled in with the final four. The second set was more of the same, as the Pomona, Calif. native cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 result. The win marked Andrews' third in a row and fourth out of five.
With teammate Alaina Miller nearing victory on Court 4, No. 42 Hart took over down the stretch against Wilson on Court 1. Hart claimed the final five games and a 6-2, 6-1 result for her second clinching win of the year.
