UCLA Rowing Prepares for Pac-12 Championships
May 15, 2019 | Women's Rowing
The UCLA women's rowing program will compete at the annual Pac-12 Championships on Lake Natoma in Gold River, Calif., on Sunday, May 19.
ย
Sunday's season-culminating Pac-12 Championships will feature five women's races, starting at approximately 8:15 a.m. (PT). UCLA will race against crews from No. 1 Washington, No. 2 California, No. 3 Stanford, No. 15 USC, No. 19 Oregon State and Washington State. Both UCLA and Washington State have consistently been receiving votes in the weekly top 20 poll this season. Races have been moved up an hour due to potentially inclement weather.ย
ย
The women's races will include the novice eight (N8+) at 8:15 a.m., followed by the third varsity eight (3V8+) at 8:45 a.m. The varsity four race (V4+) is scheduled for 9:15 a.m., with the second varsity eight (2V8+) at 9:45 a.m. and the varsity eight (V8+) at 10:15 a.m. The Pac-12 will host its awards presentation for the men's and women's rowing programs at 11 a.m.
ย
The Pac-12 Championships take place at the Sacramento State Aquatic Center, located in Gold River, Calif. Tickets cost $10 (cash) at entry at the Sacramento State Aquatic Center.
ย
UCLA raced against several Pac-12 crews earlier this season at the two-day San Diego Crew Classic on Mission Bay (April 6-7). UCLA's top two varsity eight crews raced against Washington on day one at the SDCC, and against California, Washington, Stanford and Washington State on the second day of action. In addition, UCLA rowed against Washington on May 4 at the Windermere Cup in Seattle and took on crosstown rival USC last Saturday evening in Marina del Rey.
Coverage of Sunday's races will debut in two 30-minute shows on Wednesday, May 22, on Pac-12 Network (7 p.m. PT). The men's races will air first, followed by the women's races. Links to live results will be available on Pac-12.com, and results will be posted on the Pac-12 website (www.pac-12.com).
