Onyenwere Invited to U.S. Pan American Games Women’s Basketball Team Trials

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Just three days after being invited to USA Basketball Women's 3x3 National Championship Minicamp, sophomore sensation Michaela Onyenwere received an invite to the USA Basketball Pan American Games team trials.

The forward out of Aurora, Colo., returns home to compete at the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, and is one of just 36 athletes who were invited to try out for the 12-member team starting Thursday, May 16 through Monday, May 20. The selected roster will compete in the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru, from Aug. 6-10, 2019. Teams competing in the event including the United States are Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Paraguay, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Onyenwere is one of seven athletes selected from the Pac-12 Conference. She was an All-Pac-12 selection in 2018-19, averaging a team-best 18.3 points per game to go along with 8.5 rebounds.
