Women's Tennis Adds Georgia Transfer Goulak

June 27, 2019 | Women's Tennis

LOS ANGELES โ€“ UCLA women's tennis head coach Stella Sampras Webster has announced the addition of Georgia transfer Annette Goulak, who will be eligible to participate immediately with two seasons of eligibility remaining.

A graduate of Oak Park HS in Oak Park, Calif., Goulak earned Blue-Chip status as one of TennisRecruiting.net's top 25 prospects in 2017. She was also slotted within the top 20 of the USTA's junior rankings, reaching as high as No. 3 in the state of California. Goulak went on to post more than 40 total victories during her two seasons in Athens, Ga.

"We are excited to welcome Annette back to Southern California," said Sampras Webster. "She's a natural fit with the current roster, bringing versatility on the court and a familiarity with our players off it. She had an outstanding junior career and her success in a major conference like the SEC speaks for itself."

Goulak went 4-0 in doubles action during the 2018-19 campaign, playing in a pair of fall championships. She also won five of her last seven singles matches during the tournament season, including a pair of ITA Southeast Regional triumphs. The Bulldogs went 28-2, advancing to the NCAA Championships final round in the process.

The 5-6 right-hander broke onto the scene as a freshman in 2017-18, registering a 16-6 singles record and a 16-13 doubles mark for the NCAA Championships quarterfinalist Bulldogs. She was a fixture in the doubles lineup throughout the dual-match season, going 10-8 while participating in all but one contest. On the singles courts, Goulak went 12-4 during the fall and advanced to the ITA Southeast Regional Round of 16. She won four of six singles dual matches.

Goulak also proved an ambassador to the program away from the courts, qualifying for Georgia's Dean's List multiple times and becoming a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee during the 2018-19 school year.

"We have some big shoes to fill with our departing seniors," added Sampras Webster. "And Annette certainly brings valuable experience and leadership traits into the fold."
