Los Angeles Super Regional to Begin on Friday Night

LOS ANGELES โ The NCAA announced on Tuesday morning that the Los Angeles Super Regional, featuring No. 1 national seed UCLA and Michigan, will begin play on Friday, Jun. 7 at 6:00 p.m. PT. The best-of-three series will run from Friday through Sunday (if necessary) at Jackie Robinson Stadium with all three games beginning at 6:00 PM PT and appearing on ESPN2.
The Bruins (51-9) advanced to Super Regionals for the first time since 2013 after fighting through the elimination bracket in the Los Angeles Regional. Needing three wins in two days, UCLA knocked off No. 2 seed Baylor before defeating No. 3 seed Loyola Marymount in back-to-back games to clinch a Supers berth.
With the 4-1 showing over the weekend, UCLA has now matched a program record for wins at 51.
Michigan (44-19) reached the Super Regionals by virtue of winning the Corvallis Regional as the No. 3 seed. The Wolverines found themselves in the driver's seat of that regional after winning their first two games of the weekend, but had to fend off No. 2 seed Creighton which won the first game of the regional final. Michigan bounced back to claim a 17-6 victory on Monday night to secure the team's first Super Regionals appearance since 2007.
