Redshirt sophomore Shae Anderson of the UCLA track and field team has been selected the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for Jan. 20-26.
Anderson continued her stellar debut season with the Bruins, taking the victory in the women's 400m at the Dr. Sander Invitational (New York, N.Y.) with an indoor school-record time of 53.46. Anderson ducked under Bruin great Sheena Johnson's existing record time of 53.63 that she set back in 2003. With her victory in the 600m (1:30.57) at the UW Indoor Preview (Jan. 18), Anderson now has a pair of individual wins to her credit this season. She also anchored the Bruins' 4x400m relay squad that ran 3:42.50 to win the event title in Seattle.
This is Anderson's first UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week award of the season and of her career.
