Altick posted clinching win for Bruins, who improved to 4-0.

LOS ANGELES – The No. 4 UCLA women's tennis team completed its fourth shutout in as many matches Sunday, defeating UC Santa Barbara by a 7-0 score at Los Angeles Tennis Center.

Junior Abi Altick completed the sweep with a straight-set win on Court 4 for the Bruins (4-0). Sophomore Elysia Bolton, freshman Abbey Forbes and junior Annette Goulak posted comeback efforts in singles play, while Jada Hart and Sasha Vagramov also won. Neither of the Bruins' victorious doubles teams surrendered more than two games. The Gauchos dropped to 1-4.

One day removed from their 2020 dual-match debut, a 6-1 match-opening win, second-ranked Elysia Bolton and Jada Hart turned in another dominant performance on the top court. The pair bested Amit Lev Ari and Elizaveta Volodko by a 6-2 score, improving its overall record to 10-2.

Abi Altick and Sasha Vagramov also controlled their match, securing the first five games against Shakhnoza Khatamova and Tiffany Lagarde en route to a doubles point-clinching 6-1 victory. Altick/Vagramov had not played together before securing both doubles points on the homestand.

The Bruins captured five of six first sets on the singles courts, with No. 9 Hart blitzing Lagarde by a 6-0 score. Hart went on to take the first three games of the second set, as well, en route to a 6-0, 6-1 win that made the score 2-0.

Playing her first match on the top court, No. 6 Forbes took six of seven first-set games from Lev Ari. The Gaucho countered by taking the first three of the second set, but that was where her fortune ended. Forbes seized six of the final seven games and the win, 6-1, 6-4.

Altick doubled up Dominika Paterova in mirror-image sets on Court 4, clinching the overall victory. The Bruin won her second match in a row after not finishing her first two dual contests.

No. 14 Bolton faced a 5-1 deficit against Volodko on Court 2, only to charge back for the final six games and the set win. There was no looking back for the sophomore, who took six of seven second-set games to improve her season record to 8-2.

Vagramov, ranked No. 108 nationally, continued her hot start to the dual-match season on Court 6. The freshman posted a 6-2, 6-4 showing against Juliana Valero in the day's penultimate match. Vagramov, Altick, Bolton and Hart each won all of her matches on the weekend.

No. 99 Annette Goulak, who dropped her first set against Shakhnoza Khatamova by way of tiebreaker on Court 5, bounced back to force a 10-point decider. There, the Bruin took charge for a 6-7(5), 6-3, 1-0(3) win that completed the sweep.

UCLA returns to action Friday, Feb. 7, when it opens play at the ITA National Team Indoor Championships in Chicago. XS Tennis Village will host all matches through Monday, Feb. 10.
