SAN FRANCISCO – UCLA guard Tyger Campbell has secured Pac-12 Freshman of the Week honors, as announced on Monday by the Pac-12 Conference office.
 
Campbell averaged 14.0 points and 7.5 assists in UCLA's sweep of Utah and Colorado last week. He scored 13 points and registered four assists in the Bruins' 69-58 victory at Utah on Thursday. Two days later, Campbell notched his first collegiate double-double with 15 points and a career-best 11 assists in a 70-63 victory at No. 18 Colorado.
 
Campbell shot 46.7 percent from the field through both games, connecting on 10 of 21 shots.
 
A freshman guard from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Campbell continues to lead the Pac-12 in assist-turnover ratio (2.48) and is fifth in the conference in assists per game (4.6).
 
This marks the first season in which the Pac-12 has awarded Freshman of the Week accolades. In addition, this is the first time Campbell has been selected as the league's Freshman of the Week Award recipient.
 
The Bruins have won nine of their last 11 games (including five consecutive contests). UCLA will return to action against Arizona State this Thursday night in Pauley Pavilion presented by Wescom. Game time is 8 p.m. (PT). UCLA's game against the Sun Devils will be televised on the Pac-12 Network.
 
UCLA (17-11, 10-5 Pac-12) will close its home schedule this Saturday night against Arizona (8 p.m., PT).
