SAN FRANCISCO – UCLA's Jaime Jaquez Jr. has secured Pac-12 Freshman of the Week honors, as announced on Monday by the Pac-12 Conference office.
 
Jaquez Jr. averaged 15.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals in the Bruins' two victories at home last week. He scored 13 points and totaled seven rebounds in the team's win over No. 20 Colorado last Thursday night. Jaquez Jr. followed that performance with 18 points, four rebounds and four steals in a victory against Utah on Sunday.
 
Jaquez Jr., a 6-foot-6 freshman from Camarillo, Calif., has scored in double figures in each of UCLA's last six games. Through the team's nine Pac-12 contests, he has averaged 11.0 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game.
 
This marks the first season in which the Pac-12 has awarded Freshman of the Week accolades. In addition, this is the first time in which Jaquez Jr. has been selected as the league's Freshman of the Week Award recipient.
 
UCLA improved its overall record to 12-10 on Sunday afternoon with a 73-57 win over Utah. The Bruins enter the week with a 5-4 record in Pac-12 play and will travel to the state of Arizona for a pair of games at Arizona State (Thursday night) and at No. 23 Arizona (Saturday night).
