Head coach Michael Sealy has announced the addition of 6-foot-1 outside hitter élan McCall to the UCLA women's volleyball roster. McCall, a transfer from TCU, will have two years of eligibility remaining.
"We are excited to have élan joining us this fall," Sealy said. "She is someone who made a big impact in a Power 5 Conference as a freshman and carried a huge load for her team. She has the physicality and overall desire to play that makes her ceiling very high. We can't wait to get her to Westwood."
As a freshman in 2018, McCall led the Horned Frogs with 4.74 kills and 5.21 points per set, with both also ranking first in the Big 12 Conference and eighth in the nation. She was named an AVCA Honorable Mention All-American, AVCA All-Southwest Region, AVCA Southwest Region Freshman of the Year, All-Big 12 First Team and All-Big 12 Rookie Team. McCall, who added 3.26 digs per set, 41 blocks and 14 service aces, had 14 double-doubles and 20 double-figure kills matches in just 21 contests. Her season high in kills was 31 against Colorado State, while her personal best in digs was 22 versus Louisiana. McCall, the first player in TCU history to earn AVCA Player of the Week honors (Nov. 20, 2018), earned six Big 12 weekly plaudits, including five Big 12 Rookie of the Week awards and one POW accolade.
In her sophomore season in 2019 when she missed time with a leg injury, McCall averaged 2.02 kps and 2.98 dps to go with 12 aces. She recorded a season-best 27 kills against Texas Tech, one of her two matches with at least 20 kills and four with double figures in kills. She went for three double-doubles, including a 20-20 contest, registering 10 double-figure digs matches.
