Kicker JJ Molson was selected by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the seventh round of the 2020 Canadian Football League Draft held on Thursday night.
Molson was the Bruin placekicker and kickoff man for the past four seasons. His total of 51 career field goals ranks tied for sixth on the all-time school list. Molson's four-year total of 304 points ranks him sixth on that UCLA school career list. He made 90 straight extra-point attempts to conclude his career as a Bruin.
In 2019, Molson recorded touchbacks on 53 of his 61 kickoffs (87%) and connected on eight of his 14 field-goal attempts. In 2018, he had 38 touchbacks on his 60 kickoffs and converted 14 of his 19 field-goal attempts. Molson made 17 of his 21 field-goal attempts in 2017, including a game winner from 37 yards out in the final seconds versus Cal. He recorded his career-long field goal of 50 yards in a 2018 contest against Colorado.
