Younggren Named to MPSF All-Academic Squad

The senior hit a career-best .415 during the 2020 season.

Matt Younggren has been named to the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) 2020 Men's Volleyball All-Academic team announced on Friday by Executive Director Al Beaird.

Younggren, who hit a career-best .415 for the season, saw action in 18 matches, all starts, at middle blocker for the Bruins in 2020. He hit over .400 in nine matches and posted a season-high nine kills at Long Beach State and versus UC San Diego (h).

The senior ranked among the MPSF leaders in service aces per set (0.24 - 15th) and recorded a season-best  four aces at Concordia. He also rated among the best in the MPSF in blocks per set average (0.68 – 14th) and registered a season-high seven block assists in a Bruin win at Long Beach State. Younggren had multiple blocks in 12 contests during the season.

To be eligible for consideration for the MPSF All-Academic squad, student-athletes had to meet the following criteria --- Carry a 3.00 or better cumulative grade point average; be at least a sophomore academically; have completed at least one full academic year at the institution prior to the season for which the award is received; competed in fifty percent or more of the institution's competition in his or her respective sport.
