The Bruins (7-0) will meet No. 2 North Carolina in Monday's championship match. First serve is scheduled for 9 a.m., PT. The Tar Heels shut out No. 5 Duke in Sunday's first semifinal match.
For the third match in a row, Sasha Vagramov provided the heroics for UCLA. The freshman posted her third straight-set, clinching win of the tournament to complete the upset. Freshman Abbey Forbes and redshirt senior Jada Hart also notched straight-set victories. The Bruins posted commanding performances on the doubles courts, coming out on top of a pair of 6-1 results.
The Cardinal suffered its first loss of the season, falling to 5-1.
UCLA's doubles teams of No. 2 Hart/Elysia Bolton and Forbes/Annette Goulak jumped out to 4-0 leads on Courts 1 and 2, respectively. The third pair of Abi Altick and Taylor Johnson, meanwhile, took five of six games after dropping the initial one to 49th-ranked Sara Choy and Emma Higuchi. That match was ultimately suspended.
In a ranked clash between Bolton/Hart and Emily Arbuthnott/Angelica Blake, the Bruins earned the day's first victory. The win marked the duo's 10th in a row and fifth in six tries against top-25 opponents. Forbes and Goulak, meanwhile, registered a break of serve to start off their Court-2 match against Michaela Gordon and Janice Shin and never looked back. Returning serve again with a 5-1 advantage, Forbes/Goulak triumphed to clinch the day's first point.
Each of the singles first sets went the way of UCLA to move the Bruins one step closer to victory.
First off the singles courts was the veteran Hart, ranked 16th, who dropped just three total games versus No. 77 Angelica Blake on Court 3. The 6-1, 6-2 result represents Hart's second singles win of the tournament and improved her record to 16-4.
For the third time in as many Indoors matches, fifth-ranked Forbes bested her Court-2 counterpart. Also for the third time, Forbes showed improvement in results from first set to second. Sunday's 6-2, 6-0 win came at the expense of Arbuthnott.
Once again, Vagramov sealed the deal on Court 6. The 6-3, 6-3 showing was finalized on a deuce point with the Canadian serving. A nine-shot rally was ended with Vagramov sending a forehand winner past Higuchi.
UCLA had dropped its previous six meetings with Stanford. Saturday's win marked the Bruins' first in the series since March 21, 2015.
