Simo/Van Winkle Named Pac-12 Pair of the Week Again

SAN FRANCISCO -- UCLA senior Savvy Simo (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif. / Torrey Pines HS) and sophomore Abby Van Winkle (San Clemente, Calif. / Santa Margarita Catholic HS) have been named the Pac-12 Beach Volleyball Pair of the Week as announced by the league office today.
The duo helped the second-ranked Bruins to a 4-0 weekend at the Pac-12 South Tournament which included wins over two ranked opponents. The Bruins defeated Oregon, Washington, No. 5 USC and No. 19 Arizona State.
The pair won all four matches in straight sets at the tournament, allowing only one opponent to score more than 16 points in just one of the eight sets.
Their wins on court one clinched the team dual victory over No. 19 Arizona State (Mar. 7) and Oregon (Mar. 8).
It is the second time this season the duo has earned the weekly honor and is Simo's fourth-career recognition.
