Women's Tennis Adds All-American Wolff

April 30, 2020 | Women's Tennis

LOS ANGELES -- Vivian Wolff has signed a grant-in-aid with UCLA, women's tennis head coach Stella Sampras Webster announced Thursday. The former University of Georgia standout was granted a one-time transfer exception and will enroll with one season of eligibility remaining.

Wolff moves to the West Coast an owner of a 56-20 career singles record and a doubles mark of 45-17 over three seasons with the Bulldogs.

"We couldn't be more excited to have a player the caliber of Vivian join our team," said Sampras Webster. "She was an amazing player at Georgia, recently becoming an All-American."

A native of Frankfurt, Germany, Wolff and doubles partner Eleni Christofi went 12-4 during the abbreviated 2019-20 season. The pair beat No. 20 Sara Daavettila/Alexa Graham of North Carolina and No. 29 Jessie Gong/Samantha Martinelli of Yale en route to the consolation title at the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships and reached the final round of the ITA Southeast Regional Championships with a semifinal-round triumph over No. 38 Victoria Allen/Emmanuelle Salas of Florida State. Wolff/Christofi earned All-American honors from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Tuesday.

Wolff also worked with three other partners in 2019-20 and finished the season with an overall doubles record of 16-5. She went 15-8 in singles play.

Georgia registered a national runner-up finish in 2019 and Wolff proved a major part on the fourth singles court. The then-sophomore went 32-3, including a 24-1 showing in dual matches. Wolff won her final 20 singles decisions and climbed to No. 28 in the Oracle/ITA singles rankings. Wolff, who reached No. 55 in the doubles rankings with Christofi, posted an overall doubles record was 23-8. Her singles (12-0) and doubles (12-0) records were unblemished in Southeastern Conference (SEC) play. Wolff's 55 total wins led the team and helped her garner First-Team All-SEC recognition.

Wolff attended Kurpfalz Gymnasium in Mannheim, Germany before joining the Bulldogs in 2017. As a freshman, she went 9-9 versus singles competition and won six of 10 doubles decisions.

Away from the courts, Wolff was named to the J. Reid Parker Director of Athletics Honor Roll each semester she was enrolled at Georgia. To qualify, student-athletes must earn a grade-point average (GPA) of 3.00 or higher. Wolff made the Dean's List in Fall 2017 after earning a GPA of 3.50 or higher while taking 14 hours or more.

"This will make our already strong team even deeper," added Sampras Webster. "We can't wait to have Vivian on our roster."
