The 13th-seeded UCLA Gymnastics team will compete in the NCAA Morgantown Regional, which takes place Apr. 1-3 at the WVU Coliseum. Joining the Bruins in the Regional at the Crisler Center will be No. 4 seed Michigan, No. 5 seed California, No. 12 seed BYU, Ohio State, Towson, Kent State, Penn State and West Virginia.
The regional competition begins with a first-round matchup on Thursday, Apr. 1 between Penn State and host West Virginia at 3 p.m. ET. The winner will advance to the 7 p.m. ET second round session on Friday, Apr. 2 against Michigan, UCLA, and Kent State. Competing in the afternoon session at 1 p.m. ET will be California, BYU, Ohio State and Towson. The top two teams from each of the two sessions will advance to the regional final on Saturday, Apr. 3 at 7 p.m.
Competition on Friday and Saturday will be broadcast on ESPN3.
The top two teams and the top all-around competitor (who is not on an advancing team) from each regional will receive an automatic berth to the national championships, which take place April 16-17 in Fort Worth, Texas. In addition, the top event specialist on each event who is not part of an advancing team or all-around competitor, advances to the national championship (in that event only).
UCLA will begin the regional competition on uneven bars and will conclude on vault.
The Bruins have won a total of 24 NCAA Regional titles and enter this year's regional with a NQS of 197.038 and a season average of 196.667.
