Bruins Drop Series Opener at Oregon

EUGENE, Ore. - Junior Kinsley Washington and freshman Maya Brady recorded the lone hits for the second-ranked Bruins on Friday, as UCLA dropped a 3-0 decision at No. 3 Oregon at Jane Sanders Stadium.

Sophomore Megan Faraimo (10-2) struck out four in four innings, giving up two runs and three hits. Senior Rachel Garcia tossed two frames, fanning three and allowing a run and two hits.

Washington collected her single in the fifth inning, while Brady had a single in the seventh. UCLA (19-2, 3-1 Pac-12) also had baserunners in the first on a hit by pitch of junior Aaliyah Jordan and in the third on a walk to junior Briana Perez.

Oregon (27-2, 6-1 Pac-12) scored twice in the fourth and once in the fifth.

The Bruins play the Ducks twice on Saturday. The first game will be at 1 p.m. and will air on ESPN2. The second contest will be at 4 p.m. and will air on Pac-12 Network National, Los Angeles and Oregon.
