Women's Water Polo
The U.S. Women's Water Polo Team advanced to the semifinals with a 16-5 rout of Canada on Tuesday in Tokyo. Team USA will now face the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) on Thursday, August 5 at 3:30 p.m. local time, 11:30 p.m. PDT on Wednesday, August 4.
All three Bruins started the game and scored for Team USA with defender Alys Williams scoring a game-high-tying three goals (personal best in the Olympics). Maddie Musselman contributed two goals and a steal while Rachel Fattal chipped in one score, one field block and won two sprints. Adam Krikorian, head coach of Team USA, was part of 15 NCAA Championships while at UCLA as a student-athlete, assistant coach, and head coach with the Bruins' men's and women's water polo teams.
UCLA's Bronte Halligan got the start and tied for game-high honors scoring two goals for Australia, but the Aussie Stingers suffered a 9-8 loss to the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) in the quarterfinals on Tuesday. Australia now faces Canada in a 5th-8th classification game on Thursday, August 5 at 6:20 p.m. local time, 2:20 a.m. PDT.
Men's Basketball
Jrue Holiday and Zach LaVine both helped the U.S. Men's Basketball Olympic Team to a 95-81 win against Spain in the quarterfinals on Tuesday at Saitama Super Arena. Team USA will take on Australia in the semifinals. The upcoming semifinal game will begin at 9:15 p.m. PT on Wednesday (1:15 p.m. on Thursday in Japan).
Holiday finished Tuesday's win against Spain with 12 points and five assists. LaVine totaled 10 points and two assists, connecting on 2 of 5 attempts from 3-point distance. The United States outscored Spain by a 26-20 margin in the third quarter and secured a double-digit lead in the fourth quarter. Team USA shot 48 percent from the field and tallied 28 assists (and just nine turnovers).
Baseball
Israel (Zack Weiss) was eliminated from the Olympic baseball tournament following a 7-6 loss to the Dominican Republic on Tuesday.
Weiss pitched three innings in relief in the contest – his longest outing of the Olympics – allowing three earned runs on three hits. He was at his best in the bottom of the eighth, striking out the side in order as Israel clung to a one-run lead. Weiss ended his appearance with five strikeouts.
Israel ended its Olympic run with a 1-4 record. Weiss made history for the Israeli baseball program after ending up the pitcher of record in the squad's first-ever Olympic win.

Angela Dugalic and Serbia square off against China in the quarterfinal round later Tuesday evening at 6:00 p.m. PT on nbcolympics.com. Dugalic did not play in the group stage and looks to make her Olympic debut in the knockout rounds.

Rai Benjamin earned a silver medal in what is already being regarded as the greatest men's 400m hurdle race of all time. Benjamin ran 46.17 for a lifetime-best mark and an American record in the event and was one of six athletes in the field to set a national record. Benjamin was defeated by Karsten Warholm of Norway, who set a world record at 45.94 and became the first athlete to ever break the 46-second barrier in the event.
Meleni Rodney made her Olympic debut for Grenada but was unable to finish her heat in the first round of the 400m due to injury.
