Luper led the Bruins with 37 kills and a .390 hitting percentage as the Bruins began Pac-12 play with wins over USC and at Stanford. Luper, who has now led UCLA in kills for three matches in a row, became the first Bruin freshman with 19 kills in her home opener since Kristee Porter (22, 1998). She scored in bunches versus the Trojans with three and five consecutive UCLA kills in the second and third sets, respectively. Against Stanford, Luper recorded the second double-double of her early career with 18 kills and 13 digs. She picked up six kills in the second and third sets to help upset the No. 14 Cardinal for the Bruins' first win in Maples Pavilion since 2015.
This is Luper's first UCLA student-athlete of the week award of the season and of her career.
