May's career-high 39 kills versus Washington State on Sunday were the most by a Bruin in 30 years and the second-most in program history behind Natalie Williams' 43 in 1991. The 39 kills were UCLA's first in a conference match in program history, and the performance also marked the most kills by a Pac-12 player so far this season. May recorded nine kills in the first, fourth and fifth sets. She twice helped push the fifth set into extra points with a kill on a Cougar match point. Surpassing her former career-high by nine kills, May also did it at an efficient rate, at a .357 clip. She also recorded a season-high 15 digs in the match to complete the double-double. Including her 20 kills and nine digs on Friday, May finished the weekend with a team-high 59 kills and 24 digs, rising from fourth to second in the Pac-12 in kills (209) and kills per set (4.37).
This is May's first UCLA student-athlete of the week award of the season and third of her career.
