UCLA Gymnastics to Host Meet the Bruins Friday
December 13, 2021 | Gymnastics
The event is free to the public, and doors open at 6pm. Fans who wish to attend must adhere to the current COVID-19 regulations, which can be read here. UCLA Gymnastics home events require fans (age 2 and older) in attendance to show proof of their fully-vaccinated status or provide a pre-entry negative COVID-19 test result from within 72 hours of the start of the event (Tuesday, 7pm). Additionally, all fans over the age of 18 will need to show a valid ID along with their proof of vaccination or negative test result. Face coverings are required inside the venue for all individuals aged 2 or older. Fans should also be reminded that Pauley Pavilion has a clear bag policy. All non-clear bags should be left at home or in your car.
The Bruin squad will be divided into two teams – Blue and Gold – for the competition. Gymnasts from each team will compete head-to-head on the events, with a celebrity panel deciding on a winner for each head-to-head round. The team with the most cumulative points after all four events will win.
UCLA returns four reigning Pac-12 individual champions in Sekai Wright (vault), Margzetta Frazier (uneven bars) and Chae Campbell and Pauline Tratz (floor exercise), along with All-American Norah Flatley. Other regular competitors returning for the Bruins from 2021 include fifth-year senior Kendal Poston and All-Pac-12 honorees Samantha Sakti and Frida Esparza. Among the newcomers to the squad are freshman Olympians Jordan Chiles, Brooklyn Moors and Emma Malabuyo, World Championship beam medalist Ana Padurariu and U.S. Olympic Trials competitor Emily Lee.
Meet the Bruins will be televised live on Pac-12 Network, with Jim Watson and JaNay Honest on the call.
Fans are encouraged to wear holiday sweaters and will have an opportunity to win a free Amazon Fire stick. Blue and gold cheer schedule cards will be distributed to those in attendance.
