UCLA Gymnastics Ranked Eighth in Preseason Poll

UCLA will face three other preseason Top 10 teams in 2022.

The 2022 UCLA Gymnastics team will begin the season No. 8 in the preseason rankings, as voted on by the coaches of the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA).

Defending NCAA champion Michigan holds the top spot with 2405 points and 37 first-place votes. Florida is second with 2319 points and 16 first-place votes, followed by Oklahoma (2317 points, six first-place votes), Utah (2306 points, eight first-place votes), LSU (2179 points, one first-place vote), Alabama (2027 points), California (2020 points, one first-place vote) and UCLA (1887).

UCLA will face three of the Top 10 teams this season – No. 4 Utah at home on Feb. 4, No. 7 California at the Collegiate Challenge in Anaheim on Jan. 8 and at home on Mar. 6, and No. 9 Minnesota on the road on Jan. 17.

All eight Pac-12 teams are ranked in the Top 36 – No. 4 Utah, No. 7 California, No. 8 UCLA, No. 12 Arizona State, No. 17 Oregon State, No. 27 Arizona, No. 33 Stanford and No. 34 Washington.

The Bruins host their Meet the Bruins season preview on Friday, Dec. 17 at 7 pm in Pauley Pavilion presented by Wescom. The blue vs. gold exhibition is free and open to the public. It will also be aired live on Pac-12 Network.

Jan. 8 marks the Bruins' season opener. UCLA will compete in Anaheim at the Collegiate Challenge. The meet will showcase six Pac-12 squads – UCLA, California, Oregon State and Arizona in the 6:30 pm session and Arizona State vs. Washington in the 1 pm session. The Bruins' home opener will take place on Jan. 30 at 2pm.
