Brady, Faraimo Bedevil ASU to Finish Off Four-Game Sweep

LOS ANGELES - Freshman Maya Brady drove in a career-high six runs on a grand slam and a two-run single, while sophomore Megan Faraimo struck out eight in a two-hit shutout, as the second-ranked Bruins completed a four-game sweep of Arizona State on Sunday with a 9-0, five-inning victory at Easton Stadium.
The Bruins (19-1, 3-0 Pac-12) had 10 hits from seven different players, as Brady posted three and senior Bubba Nickles added two.ย
Faraimo gave up just two hits and a walk in five innings of work. She had 1-2-3 frames in the first and fourth and a pair of strikeouts in the second, third and fourth innings.
UCLA scored in all four of its trips to the plate, scoring four in the first inning on one swing of the bat. With junior Briana Perez at third after a single and senior Rachel Garcia and junior Delanie Wiszย aboard following walks, Brady connected on her fifth homer of the season and third of the weekend to put the home team up by four.
In the second, junior Kinsley Washington singled to open the inning, stole second and scored one batter later on a Nickles double to make it 5-0.
Garcia added to the scoring in the third on a leadoff homer, her fourth of the season, to up the advantage to 6-0.
In the fourth, the Bruins scored three times. Sophomore Kelli Godin singled and stole second to open the inning, and two outs later, junior Aaliyah Jordan singled to bring home UCLA's seventh run. Walks to freshman Thessa Malau'ulu and Wisz loaded the bases for Brady, who singled to right to score freshman Seneca Curo, who was running for Jordan, and Malau'uluย to make it 9-0.
The Bruins travel to California for a four-game series next weekend. The first contest will be Friday, March 26 at 2 p.m. A live stream will be available for all four games.
