Tyger Campbell Named UCLA Student-Athlete of Week

Bruins' point guard recorded double-double vs. Long Beach State and averaged 14.0 points and 7.0 assists in pair of victories.

Redshirt junior guard Tyger Campbell of the men's basketball team has been selected the UCLA Student-Athlete of the Week, presented by Ready, for Jan. 2-8.

Campbell led the Bruins to a pair of victories over Long Beach State (Jan. 6) and at California (Jan. 8), averaging a team-leading 14.0 points, along with 7.0 assists and 2.0 rebounds. He shot 61.1 percent from the field (11-for-18) and made 5 of 8 attempts from 3-point distance (62.5 percent). Campbell totaled 14 assists and three turnovers between both games. He logged his first double-double of the season, registering 11 points and 10 assists, against Long Beach State. In the team's 60-52 win over California on Saturday, he scored a team-leading 17 points and was 2-for-3 from 3-point distance.

This is Campbell's first UCLA student-athlete of the week award of the season and third of his career.
