STANFORD, Calif. – The UCLA men's golf team finished day one of The Goodwin at Stanford Golf Course tied for eighth at 5-under 275 and seven strokes behind first-place No. 14 Stanford. Eddy Lai and Pablo Ereño Perez led the Bruins with two under-par performances.
 
Lai sits tied for 16th after a 3-under 67 and Ereño Perez is right behind at tied for 27th with a 2-under 68.
 
Stanford's Barclay Brown leads the field following a bogey-free 6-under 64 in round one.
 
Lai birdied five times in his round and recorded his first eagle of the season on the par-4 11th. Ereño Perez birdied three times and holed an eagle as well on the par-5 1st.
 
Freshmen Alvaro Mueller and Omar Morales shot a pair of even-par 70's to tie for 58th heading into day two.
