Senior infielder recorded eight RBI during NCAA Regional play.

LOS ANGELES – Senior Delanie Wisz of the softball team has been selected the UCLA Student-Athlete of the Week, presented by Ready, for May 16 – May 22.

Wisz led the charge at the plate for the No. 5 seed UCLA softball team in its NCAA Regional sweep last weekend. Out of the No. 3 spot in the lineup, Wisz racked up a team-high eight RBI and five hits (5-for-9) to boost the Bruins to its eighth consecutive NCAA Super Regional appearance.

Wisz blew the doors open on game one against Grand Canyon in the second inning with a grand slam for the start of what would be a career night. In her very next at-bat in the third inning, Wisz tacked on two more with a line shot into center field to secure a new career high in RBI with six.

In the Regional Final with Ole Miss, Wisz put the Bruins on the board first with a double into the left-center gap two score two. She would finish the day 2-for-3.

In her last 10 games, Wisz is hitting for a .533 batting average (16-for-30) and 1.067 slugging percentage and has pounded four home runs, two doubles and a triple for 17 total bases.

This is the first career Student-Athlete of the Week award for Wisz.
