THE MATCHUP
UCLA hits the road this week for a Saturday afternoon matchup at Oregon. The Bruins, now ranked No. 9 in the AP Top 25 and No. 10 in the AFCA Coaches Poll will take on the No. 10/9 Ducks in a battle to be televised by FOX. The contest features the two remaining Pac-12 teams with unbeaten league records. ESPN's "College GameDay" will also be on location in Eugene, Ore. The Bruin IMG Radio Network will broadcast the contest, which will also be aired over SiriusXM and the Varsity App.
UCLA will be looking for its first win in Eugene since Drew Olson quarterbacked the squad to a 34-26 verdict in 2004. UCLA's last victory over the Ducks came at Rose Bowl Stadium in 2017. This will be the fifth meeting between the programs in the last six seasons. UO has won 22 straight homes games against all opponents in Autzen Stadium. The Bruins have recorded six wins in their last seven outings away from Pasadena, Calif. over the past two seasons.
UO and UCLA are first and second this week in the Pac-12 in rushing offense (UO - 241.67, UCLA - 211.5), completion percentage (UCLA - .740, UO - .694 and rushing defense (UO - 98.0, UCLA - 99.0). The Ducks (42.0) and Bruins (41.5) are each averaging over 40 points per game to rank second and third in that category.
In its last game, UCLA dealt then-No. 11 Utah a 42-32 setback on Oct. 8 in the Rose Bowl to register its ninth straight win and move to 3-0 in the league for the first time since 2007. Dorian Thompson-Robinson threw for four touchdowns and ran for another in the win. Thompson-Robinson's fourth scoring pass of the day pushed him past Brett Hundley and into the top spot on the all-time school list with 76 career touchdown passes. Zach Charbonnet ran for a career-best 198 yards against the Utes. The previous week it handed then-No. 15 Washington a 40-32 decision on a Friday night in the Rose Bowl. UCLA opened the league slate in Boulder, Colo. with a 45-17 triumph over Colorado.

โข UCLA has now won its first six games of a season for the first time since 2005 ... UCLA last won its first three conference games to start a season in 2007, when it captured wins in its first four Pac-10 contests. The last streak of more than four wins came in 2005, when it captured wins in its first five league outings.
โข The last time UCLA won nine straight games was over a stretch in the 1997 and 1998 seasons, when compiling its all-time best winning streak of 20 straight wins.
โข UCLA has won three of its last four outings against ranked opponents: 2022 - beat No. 11 Utah and No. 15 Washington, 2021 - beat No. 16 LSU and lost to No. 10 Oregon. UCLA's last true road win over an AP top-10 opponent came at No. 7 Texas in 2010.
โข Dorian Thompson-Robinson, who is rated first in the nation with a completion percentage of .748, made his 41st career start versus Utah to move into second on the all-time list behind only Cade McNown (1995-98), who had 44. Thompson-Robinson is ranked fifth nationally in passing efficiency at 180.6 (McNown owns the UCLA season record with a 168.6 mark in 1997).
โข The last time a top-10 UCLA team squared off against a top-10 opponent was on Oct. 13, 2001, when No. 7 UCLA beat No. 10 Washington (35-13) in the Rose Bowl. The last such matchup on the road for the Bruins came on Oct. 10, 1998, when No. 3 UCLA won at No. 10 Arizona (52-28).
LAST MEETINGS
In last year's meeting in the Rose Bowl, UCLA's late-game heroics fell short in a 34-31 loss to the No. 10 Ducks. Two fourth-quarter touchdowns and and a pair of interceptions put UCLA in position to either even the score or take the lead on their final drive, but Oregon intercepted the ball with 48 seconds left to seal the win. After UCLA opened up a 14-0 lead to start the game, the Ducks rallied back by outscoring UCLA 27-3 in the second and third quarters.
In the most recent meeting between the two programs played in Eugene, Ore. during the 2020 season, Oregon prevailed 38-35. The Ducks owned a 24-21 halftime advantage on the 37-degree day. After UCLA closed to 31-28, UO capitalized on an interception to pull in front 38-28. Quarterback Chase Griffin, making his first career start, led the Bruins down the field and Demetric Felton Jr. found the end zone to slice the deficit to 38-35 with 3:43 remaining. The UCLA defense forced a punt and the Bruins took over at their own 19 with a little over a minute to play. However, the comeback effort stalled around midfield and Oregon hung on for the win.
TEAM NOTES
โข UCLA has now won nine straight games. The Bruins last earned wins in nine straight contests when it established a school record with 20 straight wins (last 10 games of 1997 and first 10 of 1998) over the 1997 and 1998 seasons under head coach Bob Toledo and rose to No. 2 in the AP poll.
โข After this season's win at Colorado, UCLA has won six of the last seven road contests (lone loss at Utah in 2021) over the 2020-22 seasons. UCLA's 4-1 road record (wins at USC, Arizona, Washington and Stanford) in 2021 was the best by a Pac-12 team. The last time UCLA defeated a ranked opponent on the road was at No. 19 Washington State in 2019.
โข UCLA has had 10 season starts of 6-0 or better: 2005 (8-0), 2001 (6-0), 1998 (10-0), 1988 (7-0), 1980 (6-0), 1967 (6-0), 1966 (7-0), 1954 (9-0), 1952 (8-0) and 1946 (10-0).
โข UCLA was last ranked higher than No. 9 in the AP poll in 2015, when it rose from its season-opening ranking of No. 13 to No. 7 after opening that campaign with four straight wins. It was last No. 10 in the Coaches Poll in 2015.

โข UCLA is rated 33rd in the nation in total defense (344.8.) entering the week ... it held BGSU to 162 yards of total offense in the opener (39 rushing, 125 passing) ... it marked the first time UCLA held a team under 200 yards since its 2020 game against California (176). The last time a UCLA defense limited an opponent to fewer than 162 yards of total offense was 2008, when Arizona State gained 122 yards (21 rushing, 101 passing).
โข UCLA scored three touchdowns of 50 yards or more against BGSU: Dorian Thompson-Robinson's 68-yard run, a 52-yard catch and run by Keegan Jones from Thompson-Robinson and a 50-yard strike from Ethan Garbers to Josiah Norwood.The Bruins added a 70-yard pass play from Thompson-Robinson to Logan Loya against Utah. It had three such plays all of 2021.
