MVB Announces 2023 Schedule

Coach John Speraw and staff announced the 2023 men's volleyball schedule on Thursday. The Bruins, ranked fourth in the final AVCA Coaches Poll at the conclusion of the 2022 season, open the season at the UC Santa Barbara Asics Tournament which starts on Jan. 5. The first home match of the season will be on January 14 against 2022 NCAA Tournament participant Princeton.
UCLA will be featured on the Pac-12 Network six times in the coming regular season. The first appearance on the Network will be on January 21 against UC San Diego. Home matches against Long Beach State, on February 9 at 8 p.m., BYU on Feb. 17 at 7 p.m., USC on April 6 and Pepperdine, on April 15, are also slated for broadcast. The Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) away contest at USC, on April 8 will be aired at a time to be determined.
In addition to the always competitive Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) contests, the 2023 UCLA men's volleyball regular season slate features non-conference match ups against five Big West Conference squads, including Long Beach State and defending National Champion Hawai'i, battles with a pair of past National Championship teams from the Midwestern Collegiate Volleyball Association (MIVA) in Ohio State and Penn State. In March, the Bruins will travel to Virginia to take on George Mason, host of the 2023 NCAA Men's Volleyball Championship in May.
After beginning the season against CSUN on Jan. 5 in the UCSB Tournament, UCLA will square off against two of last season's top-10 ranked teams in UC San Diego (Jan. 6) and the host school UC Santa Barbara (Jan. 7). The home non-league slate includes dates with UC Santa Barbara, UC Irvine and Long Beach State. The Bruins will also go against UC Irvine and Long Beach State on the road as well as traveling to meet defending national champion Hawai'i on Mar. 11 in Honolulu where it will also play against Purdue Fort Wayne (Mar. 10) and Penn State (Mar. 9).
UCLA opens up the MPSF season with home dates on February 17 and 18 with BYU. It will host Concordia on May 1 while USC (Apr. 6) and Pepperdine (Apr. 15) come to Pauley Pavilion presented by Wescom in mid-April. The Bruins face MPSF rivals Grand Canyon and Stanford only on the road this season.
The 2023 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation post-season tournament will be held at Stanford and begins on April 19 with quarterfinal matches. The league semifinals and final will be contested on April 20 and 22, respectively. The NCAA Men's Volleyball Championship is being held at George Mason University in Fairfax, Va. with the semifinals set for May 4 and the championship match on May 6.
