UCLA Third-Quarter Comeback Not Enough in 67-53 Loss to Oregon

Charisma Osborne and Dominique Onu each scored game-highs of 16 points, the 16 points marking a new career-high for Onu. IImar'I Thomas grabbed a team-high nine rebounds, including five offensive boards. Endyia Rogers led the Ducks with 16 points on 6-of-8 shooting, and Nyara Sabally recorded a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
The Bruins (11-9) had a fantastic start to the second half, forcing a turnover on the first possession and then getting a four-point play from Osborne, who was fouled while making a three-pointer. An Onu three-point play pulled UCLA to within 13, 50-37, with 5:22 to play in the quarter, and an Osborne fast break layup cut the lead to 11, 52-41. Osborne's three-point play with just 1:18 to play in the third put UCLA behind by just 10 at the end of the period, 54-44.

A Thomas second-chance basket early in the fourth quarter pulled UCLA within single digits, 54-46, for the first time since the first quarter, but UCLA finished the quarter missing 11 of its last 13 shots.
Oregon (17-8) jumped out to an 8-2 lead to start the game before the Bruins rallied back with five straight points to close to within one, 8-7. The Ducks, however, scored 10 unanswered points to move ahead 18-7 and finished the quarter with a 20-9 advantage. Oregon scored 11 of its 20 points off six UCLA turnovers.
Onu provided nearly all of UCLA's scoring in the second quarter, scoring seven consecutive points for the Bruins before Izzy Anstey joined the scoring party with a jumper with 3:46 to play in the half. Sabally and Te-Hina Paopao, however, scored 11 of the Ducks' 20 in the quarter as the Ducks raced out to a 40-20 halftime advantage.

The Bruins will return to Los Angeles for their final home series of the season, hosting Colorado on Friday, Feb. 18 at 7pm in their annual Play4Kay game and Utah on Sunday, Feb. 20 at 12pm on Senior Day.
